Streaming video in digital form over lines with limited bandwidth is taking video compression to the most extreme. Squeezing data for sound and video across modem lines pushes the envelope of what compression algorithms can do. Given that full TV resolution video is equivalent to 30 megabytes of data per second, it is pretty amazing that we get images at all when reducing the bandwidth to about 2 kilobytes (or 20 kilobits) per second to deliver video to a user on a 28.8k modem line. Streaming video is a lot easier and more bandwidth friendly than most system administrators imagine. For starters, we can encode your company's video assets in your choice of Real Video, Microsoft NetShow or Vivo format. Next, we can specifically tailor their bandwidth usage to fit your exact needs - from 20 Kbps all the way up to 200 Kbps or higher. As we increase the throughput, the frame rate and picture quality increase. |
